Abuse First-Responder Training

NYCARES offers a one-day training for individuals interested in becoming an Abuse First Responder.

The purpose of this program is to train people how to respond to individuals impacted by abuse. This is not a counseling or intervention program. Rather, it focuses on developing appropriate responses and approaches to interacting with those impacted by abuse; and being proactive in connecting with community resources meeting the medical, mental health, physical, and legal needs of abuse victims, survivors, and perpetrators.

The goal of the Abuse First-Responder Program is to empower faith-based communities to be safe places for people to experience safe, validating, helpful, grace-filled relationships.

At the center of this program is the development of a resource and referral binder utilizing national, state, and local resources to offer those dealing with abuse issues and recovery real help for specific issues and needs they face on their journey to wholeness and healing.
